Welcome to the new Melbourne Geek website!
close xIf you have been following the blog for a while now, you will be aware of how much I love the Fitbit. A little gadget that makes it easy to track your steps and your sleep.
Fitbit have been selling in the US for a couple of years now, but we haven’t been able to buy a Fitbit in Australia from the Fitbit website.
Fitbit tells us that this comes down to the wireless technology that they use — to sync the Fitbit with the Fitbit dock. To legally sell the Fitbit in Australia, Fitbit needs to make sure that the frequency they use is approved by Australian regulators.
This doesn’t mean that the Fitbit won’t work in Australia, it does! Check out my Fitbit review if you want more information on why I love the Fitbit!
So where can you buy a Fitbit in Australia
I have spent a lot of time researching the best place to buy a Fitbit in Australia. Ebay is one option, but it’s not the best. Most Fitbits on Ebay are marked up by up to $50, which is ridiculous when you consider the Aussie dollar.
When I found out that I could buy my Fitbit on Amazon, my first impression was that it wouldn’t work. I have seen so many gadgets on Amazon that aren’t available to ship in Australia. I was pleasantly surprised when I added the Fitbit to cart, I got the confirmation email and a week later, I had my very own Fitbit! Here is the listing I bought from. It was shipped by Amazon, so you can get other things like books, movies and Beats Headphones, without doing multiple shipments!
